The need for the light FT17 tank to support infantry with a high explosive cannon was recognized and the War Ministry requested design proposals to upgrade the current FT17 then in production.
The Char de Combat C-2 was a design developed by Peugeot to compete again with Renault's FT17 version of BS-75. (Product R3D-35-020)
Renault proposed a high profile, boxy designed that proved to be top-heavy in trials and was ""not needed as the FT17 with a modified turret would do the job", so it did not go into production.
